Event Support Contractor

 

Role Description: Thurston County Inclusion is seeking individuals to support our monthly and summer camp programming. This 1099 contractor will work alongside the Executive Director to lead and facilitate Thurston County Inclusion (TCI) events and activities and is on a work as needed basis. 

 

Location: Our organization services all of Thurston County, therefore it is imperative that a contractor is able to have reliable transportation and be able to attend events throughout the county at varying venues. 

 

Schedule Commitment 

  • Year-Round- For events from September to June, contractors must commit to attending a minimum of three events per quarter. There will be three quarters: September to December, January to March, and April to June.

  • Summer Camp-must commit to attending 6 full weeks of camp. This attendance helps ensure ongoing engagement with TCI’s mission and operations. 

  • Shifts for both Year-Round and Summer camp are posted on a first come first serve basis using our online scheduling system, contractors have the ability to have some flexibility to determine and select shifts that work best for contractors (please note summer camp is often less flexible than year round programming as it’s preset days and times for the length of summer).

 

Hours and Compensation

  •  18.50/hr with an additional $32 a month stipend (stipend given regardless of hours worked)*

  • Project Hours per month may not exceed the following;

April:15

May: 15

June: 20

July: 55

Aug: 55

Sep: 15

Oct: 15

Nov: 15

Dec: 15

*General Liability insurance is required to be held by the contractor, a stipend is offered to cover that monthly expense.

Responsibilities can include but are not limited;***

  • Report promptly to assigned/selected shifts

  • Oversee event setup, execution, and tear down, ensuring smooth operations.

    • Loading and unloading of vehicles 

    • Light cleaning of venues

  • Facilitate check in and check out of participants

    • Being sure to keep confidential information private and logged and filed correctly

  • Ability to discuss the event details and more with parent/caregivers

  • Assist participants with activities such as crafts, games, and other tasks

  • Help in photographing and using TCI approved media to capture event details for digital photo album

  • Going to and from the TCI storage to gather and or put back supplies as needed for events. 

    • Helping to keep and report inventory of items needed

  • Following TCI’s Participant Toileting Policy-Toilet assistance for some participants may be possible- will be discussed with staff and will include specific details as they pertain to participants needs.

  • In the event of emergent situations would be asked to lead participants and other youth to safe zone and implement TCI’s emergency policy

  • Work collaboratively with staff to coordinate and follow through with logistics on community events.

  • Address any issues promptly and professionally to maintain a positive experience.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for staff, vendors, performers, volunteers, and attendees during the event should the Executive director not be in attendance.

  • Creative problem-solving abilities and adaptability under pressure

  • Passion for community engagement and a commitment to inclusivity and diversity

You will be trained on all tasks & responsibilities.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Pass a background check

  • Currently have or have the ability to hold a general liability insurance policy (see stipend information above)

  • Commitment to inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities

  • Experience working with children and/or young adults preferred 

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

  • Willingness to learn & work in a team environment

  • Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations
