What We Do at Camp
Each week of camp has a different theme. Please look at our calendar for our themes this year (available soon). Each week follows a similar structure. First, we do a group activity. Then, we do rotations with your small group. Finally, we do another group activity.

Staff Support
Thurston County Inclusion Staff are trained and available to support you in programs so that you can participate and your child can be as independent as possible. Please communicate to staff if there are specific things they can help support you with in programs.
Areas that staff CANNOT support members:
-
Administering medications*
-
Feeding*
-
Intervention and de-escalation for violent/aggressive behavior*
*If you will need assistance with any of these areas during a camp session, please have your child attend camp with a parent/guardian/caregiver. This individual will just need to sign a Liability/Media release form upon arrival.
Sickness Policy
Please do not send your child to camp sick. We value the safety and health of all participants. Please make sure that your child is symptom-free for the 24 hours prior to attending camp. Symptoms can include: vomiting, diarrhea, rash, persistent cough, fever or temperature (100.0 F or higher), obvious contagious conditions, such as head lice or pink eye.
What to Expect
Each week of camp will have a different theme, however much of our structure will remain the same from week to week. During the first weeks of camp, your participant will meet many new peers and volunteers and get to know our routines. This can be a lot to process while you are first getting started! Please talk to a Thurston County Inclusion Staff member if you need support in adjusting and feeling comfortable at programs. We want your child to have a positive, meaningful experience and we will do our very best to make that happen!

One on One Support
One on One Assessments
Individual Support for Participants- Thurston County Inclusion aims to provide support for all youth however we do have some limitations in the support we offer. Please read below for more information.
We offer one-on-one attention for participants who need constant supervision and support from a volunteer to engage in events or prefer to venture away from the group. All of our one-on-ones are volunteers, and many of them are high school students. Please be aware that if your participant will need more advanced assistance, we encourage you to arrange that outside of TCI. Many of our youth who receive one-on-one support during the school year through their neighborhood school, do well with our smaller groups and do not need one-on-one support at our camps. We are not affiliated with any school districts and operate differently than an academic setting. Our models is to create smaller groups with more support to facilitate engagement for all youth.
A TCI Staff or Board Member will assess if TCI can provide the participant with one-on-one support. This will be done at a previous TCI event and/or a designated pre-summer orientation. Participants will be assessed each year at a minimum. To schedule an assessment, TCI must be notified via email (info@thurstoncountyinclusion.org) prior to an event and an adult must stay with the participant for their first event.
TCI has 3 part-time staff and is otherwise volunteer-run. We cannot always guarantee that we will have one-on-one volunteers available for your child. If we do not have an adequate number of one-on-one volunteers, the participant’s adult will be asked to stay with their children and one-on-one volunteers available will be on a first come-first serve basis.
